ONJ Treatment Options
What to Ask Your Doctor / Dentist
It is important to have honest and open communication with your dentist and doctor. Be prepared! Write down the questions about osteonecrosis of the jaw that you may have before your visit with the doctor. It may be helpful to have someone with you when you meet with the doctor taking notes, so you can listen to what the doctor says. Consider these questions:
Which ONJ treatment do you recommend, and why?
What side effects are there to the ONJ treatments that you recommend?
What can I do to help reduce the side effects I may have from the ONJ treatment?
Are a removable appliance or a protective stent an option?
How is the best way to deal with the pain / disfigurement of osteonecrosis of the jaw?
Is there a pain doctor you recommend?
If you have cancer -
Are you coordinating with my oncologist / dentist.
Should we be stopping cancer / bisphosphonates treatment before obtaining dental work?
